Through a partnership with Chicanos por la Causa Development, our firm proposed a 200 apartment multi-family, mixed-use project for City of Mesa’s downtown corridor at Country Club and Main.  The design encourages a sense of exploration for downtown Mesa; whether by patrons to the site, or residents of the project.  The site is positioned at the gateway to the downtown Mesa corridor at Country Club and Main Street.  Our design response was to encourage foot traffic by addressing the street with the building forms, creating a desert pocket park, landscape promenade, and providing a mix of residential sizes and uses within the site.  The position of the site also demands interesting retail spaces, and unique tenants, to appeal the foot traffic from all transportation sources.

Through the design of the traffic flow pattern multi-modal travel is encouraged in this project, especially, because travelers from the on-site bus stop and the adjacent light rail station are encouraged to visit the small retail at the ground floor. This project design provides opportunities for pedestrians, bicyclists, bus riders, light rail passengers, and motorists to enjoy the site amenities simultaneously, while connecting to the existing retail development on Main Street.
