The master plan was the first phase of development of a new middle school.  It was focused on changing the dynamics of education in the State of Hawaii, for the Hawaii Department of Education. The campus was created around a sequence of exploratory spaces, with an Exploratorium in the center, on a significantly sloping site. Dramatic views to the ocean below, were maintained from the Exploratorium and Library building.

Paul Winslow, FAIA, led the design development, and was the project architect while working at Orcutt/Winslow.
