Gladden Farms Elementary School - Planning
Marana, AZ

With the prior District evaluation, this school was the first to endeavor to meet the criteria established through the District Facilities Master Plan.  Using that as a basis, specific educational strategies were evaluated and new concepts created.  Classrooms were determined to be clustered by grade level.  An example of the impact on the learning environment is exemplified by the concept that the classrooms were to be opened to allow collaboration between teachers and students.  Each grade level was determined to be separated from other grade levels, in order to eliminate distraction from others passing through “their area”.  This developed to encourage and support cooperation and interaction between teachers and to allow them to group certain students from each class, when there was an appropriate grouping of students with a common interest or ability.
