NAU OLD MAIN

FLAGSTAFF, AZ

Originally designed and adapted for a variety of uses, Paul led the design and restoration team to adapt it into an art museum. He preserved the exterior windows but shielded the art from unwanted direct sun light by building a false wall two feet inside.  He then simulated with models and full sized temporary foam-core construction, to measure light distribution.

The original wood stair at front entry was recreated from uncovered remains. Salvaged original pressed metal ceiling panels were reinstalled in the main gallery.

Paul Winslow, FAIA, was the architect of record resolving some programmatic issues and leading the historic restoration process, as well as overseeing the construction administration while working at Orcutt/Winslow.
